Span² was founded from a genuine passion for Britain's post-war modernist homes. Having spent years working on the restoration, refurbishment and sensitive alteration of Span developments, we recognised that homeowners often struggled to find professionals who truly understood both the architectural significance of these properties and the practicalities of improving them. Span² was created to bridge that gap.
While our reputation has been built on our specialist knowledge of Span homes and modernist architecture, our approach extends far beyond them. We work with homeowners across a wide variety of properties, from period homes and contemporary extensions to complete refurbishments and bespoke new-build projects. Span² was founded by Sophie Walters, whose background combines practical construction experience with a passion for thoughtful, well-designed homes. Inspired by the timeless work of Eric Lyons and the principles behind Span developments, Sophie established Span² to help homeowners create sensitive, functional and beautifully considered spaces.
Working closely with clients, architects and trusted collaborators, Sophie oversees every project from the initial concept through to completion, ensuring each design balances architectural integrity with the needs of modern living. While Span homes remain a particular passion, the same design philosophy is applied to every project, regardless of its age or style.
